I’m a french and recent wwoofer; I’ve been to Nigeria as a wwoofer in january 2012 and I think wwoofing in Nigeria it’s one of the best way to discover and enjoy nigerian culture.
Indeed, WWOOF is surely a very good means to cross an untouristic country, as you live with and like denizen people. What I’ve been fond of is more meeting a lot of simple persons who convinced me they are good people who do part of a great nation, than learning different ways of organic farming, (in grand part because of the fact that organic farming is not really developped in this country…)
Moreover I’ve discovered that Nigeria is a country which has a lot of potential in the improvement of its agricultural methods, so join wwoof is participate to this process evolution.

My name is Paul Ojo henckel, I’m a 32 year old guy from Denmark. I joined WWOOF Nigeria as a volunteer december 2017. After officially meet with my first host, Mr Ben Olatilo ; coordinator of WWOOF in Nigeria. I stayed with him for a while before joining different host farms. One of it is a 40 acre commercial farm close to abeokuta, ogun state
I stayed at this farm on 2 occasions. My first visit was around 17th to 22nd December, the workers had christmas vacation so it would not be advisable for me to stay at the farm alone. I then went back to the WWOOF office in Ibadan, found my father and his family on the 27th of December and went to spent some time with them until the beginning of January when I came back to this farm again.
I liked this place a lot, the owner, the manager and the workers and everyone else there, were very nice and hospitable to me. I was given an ‘experimental plot’ to try some of my permaculture methods in the tropic setting, and in the weekends we would watch kung fu or sentimental Akata (black american drama) movies. I learned a lot from working with them here and from my experiments. The owner had a documentarist to film my experience for a short promo, I enjoyed my stay in Nigeria, it was a double joy for me, as I was able to reconnect with my father.
